Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory neurological disease of the central nervous system. There are several pharmacological treatments available to treat symptoms, relapses, and in some cases, progression, but there is no cure for MS. However, there is evidence that shows lifestyle changes can help people improve mental and physical health, quality of life (QOL) and disease symptoms. There is minimal evidence exploring lifestyle interventions for people living with MS in rural and regional areas and what unique barriers they face. The aim of this project is to explore the experiences of people living with MS in rural Australia using lifestyle modifications to manage their disease and what support they need.
