In Module 2 we will be discussing the various regulatory, ethical and governance frameworks that are in place in Australia to ensure that human research is as safe, informed and protected as it can be, given the exploratory nature of research. We will take a closer look at the role of the Human Research Ethics Committee and the National Statement, and how they both ensure that clinical trials focus on the participant and their well-being and safety. We will also discuss the role of the consumer in the Human Research Ethics Committee and how lay people bring a valuable perspective to research.
