We are a team of Griffith University researchers conducting a research project (for which we have been engaged by Arafmi Ltd and Little Dreamers) about young carers. This project involves an examination of the extent of caring done by, and support for, young carers and psycho-social disability and risk-taking behaviours of young carers, in Australia.
As part of the research project we are conducting a national online survey of young carers (aged 9-24) and interviews with young adult carers (aged 18-24) to examine their experiences in providing care (or assisting in providing care) to one or more family members or friends who are aged, have a chronic illness, disability, or problem with alcohol or other drugs.
The findings from the survey will be used to gain a better understanding of how to support young carers in the future.
Young carers are being asked to do an online survey that will take approximately 15-20 minutes.
Any young person aged 9-24 who provides unpaid care to a family member/friend/community member who has a chronic illness, disability or is aged or has a problem with alcohol or other drugs.
Anyone younger than 9 or older than 24. Anyone aged 9-24 who does not provide unpaid care.
